[13:33] Join: Roy joined #corewars [13:33] hi [13:34] Hi! [13:34] Just decided to install irc on my work pc, so I can keep you company [13:35] :-) [13:35] There are logs on koth.org (midscreen somewhere) [13:35] Noone's been on for days [13:35] Yesterday was a busy chat-day, but not on the times you where online heh [13:35] lol yes [13:35] A lot of people come here, see nobody and leave again [13:36] But the problem is...I still have to do some work, so I might become afk suddenly [13:36] ok [13:36] what's the work [13:36] ? [13:36] I'm programming some game AI atm, working on a pathfinding algorithm [13:36] sounds interesting [13:36] The problem is > the game is for a mobile phone, so I don't have a lot of resources [13:37] i a boring kind of way [13:37] :-) I guess you're a programmer, then [13:37] No its kinda cool, I don't have any examples, so there is a lot of inventing new stuff involed [13:38] Yeah, programmer.. you? [13:38] im still at school, but I know a few languages [13:38] I'm tryying to write a corewar toolbar for Firefox [13:40] but Firefox has decided it doesn't want a corewar toolbar [13:40] corewartoolbar? :|? [13:40] :-) [13:40] What would that do? [13:41] At first it's just going to have links to the corewar imp ring and KOTH. It's my Hello world program. [13:41] if you know what i mean [13:41] Ah yeah, just some sort of link-bar [13:42] I was also going to put in a warrior google search [13:43] not very exciting, but I'm still learning how to write extensions [13:43] warrior google search is nice though, I would use that :) [13:44] it's really just the warrior and ;redcode thrown into google [13:44] heh, it works.. :) the problem starts with big archives like koenigstuhl, I don't think all those warriors are indexed [13:45] yes [13:47] but writing an actual search engine is a little beyond me [13:47] lol [13:52] Yeah hehe, well, making a simple search engine isn't so hard though [13:52] really? [13:53] And a little spider that crawls for files with ;redcode and ;name in it [13:53] Then you can create your own database and search that using...php or some other gateway [13:57] i guess that wouldn't be too hard, but I don't know php [13:57] i think i'll stick with google for now [14:00] no prob, somebody will come along and make it (Fluf??) [14:05] How about writing more warriors, do you have any plans for those? [14:09] I'm writing an incendiary bomber at the moment [14:11] you? [14:19] MSG: Ping timeout: 252 seconds [14:20] I'm not writing anything at all...I'm working :P [14:20] Yesterday I wrote some new things, and at home I just started a new (secret) project that does well on the current hill [15:15] MSG: [15:21] Join: fiveop joined #corewars [15:44] Join: sf joined #corewars [15:45] Hi [15:45] Is everyone ready for Christmas> [15:59] Can't anyone manage to get onto the nano hill this week? [17:39] anything new? [17:39] not really.. [17:40] other than he who must not be mentioned, pk and I are kicking ass in a recmath contest [17:40] http://www.recmath.org/contest/fullstandings.php [17:41] currently moved up to 12th place.. [17:41] hoping to be in the top 10 later today :) [17:44] wow! [17:44] AI programming? [17:45] noo.. nothing that cool :) [17:48] What what kind of contest are those? [17:50] this ones packing circles [17:50] its kinda fun [17:52] packing circles? [17:53] Join: Roy joined #corewars [17:53] hey ho [17:53] congrats bvowk :) [17:53] hi Roy [17:54] Join: Judodudo joined #corewars [17:54] hello [17:54] hi judo [17:55] thanks for the help with my warrior :-) [17:56] ah, the spl bomber.. [17:58] good luck with it. It is really hard to make an effective incendiary bomber [17:59] MSG: Ping timeout: 252 seconds [18:21] Join: Fizmo joined #corewars [18:21] hi [18:21] hi Fizmo [18:23] hi Neo [18:23] How's it going? [18:23] fine, entered a new warrior on ICWS, but failed with 94nop scanners :/ [18:24] And you? Anything in project? [18:25] Join: Fluffy joined #corewars [18:25] :) [18:26] hi Pluffy [18:28] Hmm ... I can't find a Pluffy here ;-) [18:30] Hey, Johnabaloo has hit the hill :-) I really like that name [18:30] (despite the lack of success) [18:31] hehe nice indeed [18:31] What is the saying again? Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery? :) [18:32] back [18:32] Neo: Well, actually I relax a bit from cw and play cs:s [18:32] The previous version, poorly optimized and without Qs and no boot was scoring better, grrr! [18:33] Fizmo: what's that? [18:33] Roy: No, it is called plagiarism ;-) [18:34] Hmmm, gotta go :/ [18:34] bye [18:34] counterstrike:source [18:34] MSG: Quit: Physical Wreck IRC webscript: http://www.pswclan.com/cgi-bin/irc/irc.cgi [EOF] [18:34] * Fizmo waves as usual to late [18:49] ok, I gotta go now. [23:18] (ok I'm a little late) [23:18] yeah, I've already had my share of updates :( [23:19] updates? [23:19] rephrase: annoying installs [23:19] what updates? you mean some people are still running that cruddy os that gets holed if someone looks sideways at it? [23:19] bah. [23:19] here's a quarter kid.. buy a real computer. [23:19] * bvowk ducks [23:20] well, it runs most programs, (blames big developers) [23:20] the hardware is fine, but yea I think microsploit's engineering staff is obsessed with using gets() and sprintf() or something. [23:21] naw.. its bad design choices from way back coming back to haunt them.. [23:21] * johnkw uses windows as a gui dumb terminal frontend for all the work he does via putty on linux [23:21] they really need to break the cycle.. [23:22] I'd just drop windows all together.. there are much more effective window managers :) [23:23] Linux people have a easier life, they don't have to be backwardscompatible on a buggy platform, they learned from mistakes and build something better [23:23] But they couldn't have done that without windows :) [23:32] they can also say "just recompile your software!" [23:32] when they make incompatible changes :) [23:36] with some many developers thats just too hard.. but I'll welcome a completly new design with open arms if the programs i use are available there too easily [23:51] MSG:
