[00:09] Join: Leniad joined #corewars [00:09] so, I just coded a basic bomber that also uses the jump to set a 33% imp gate, all by myself [00:09] yay for me :D [00:19] hah, now it bombs in mod-8 steps then it clears all the core [01:04] Join: Caelian_ joined #corewars [01:07] MSG: Ping timeout: 240 seconds [02:07] Leniad: good for you [02:08] heh, only it sucks when benchmarking :P [02:08] well, thats not a worry [02:08] it does win some matchs, which is amazing enough [02:09] my unfinished stonearticle might yet be a bit rough read for you, but anyway: http://koti.mbnet.fi/mizcu/stonearticle.txt [02:11] what my bomb does so far is: bomb the core with spl 0 every 10 spaces, then core clear, then wait doing spl 0 and impgating [02:12] switch to spl #0 [02:12] any reason? [02:13] yes, but its a little illogical at first [02:13] I know it's the same since any #number points to itself [02:13] but I dont see how it'd improve performance [02:13] if a spl 0 is modified, it turns into spl x [02:13] ah [02:13] I see [02:15] well, i'd be fucked anyways since I use the b field of the spl to point to where I should jump on the clear loop, so when it gets overwritten by the clear instruction it switches to impgating [02:16] the point is not you being overwritten [02:16] since the spl will end up in an opponent, there is a big chance of it being modified before being run [02:16] or even while running [02:17] ah, so then it'd be less effective at stunning [02:18] but by making it #0, it'd stun him anyways [02:18] whoa, this is progress [02:18] my tv-card finally works well both in analog and digital! [02:18] and it took only 2.5 years of updating drivers and switch of OS.. [02:19] now i just have to hope that the video-in works well too, so i can plug xbox in it [02:19] the only thing they made digital here is the encoding on pay channels, so it's harder to view without paying ¬_¬ [02:20] the whole digitalization of Tv has gotten a lot of flak here in Finland [02:21] as long as you have enough money to update your rig, that's good :P [02:21] yeah [02:22] one can get a digitv-box at 50 euros, and a usb-digitv reciever at 60 or so [02:25] oh, your guide already made my warrior a (bit) better [02:26] using stepsize 2930 instead of 10 :P [02:26] what was your website, miz? [02:27] http://koti.mbnet.fi/mizcu/corewars/ [03:44] (what? why the silence?) [14:12] Hi [14:12] * Roy is waiting for the next CW... :-D [14:13] Too bad its due wednesday, I already have plans that evening....!! [14:13] less than 54 hours to wait :) [14:13] * Roy looks at watch [14:14] hmm ... you could bribe me to release it on a different day [14:14] But you'd have to start with 1000 Euro min. [14:16] But why are you waiting, not every item in yet? [14:17] All articles are done, but I still have to proof-read them. [14:17] and the summary for the development of the various hills is kind of tricky, because more than 2 years have passed [14:22] Anything new on your side, Roy? [14:25] * Fluffy is away for a couple of hours ... [14:25] Join: triple joined #corewars [14:36] hello. I'm thinking of holding a Core War compo at a local demoparty. I haven't looked at Core War since the 90's, so I could use some directions. What software should I use? Platform-independent would be the best, though most users will probably use Windows or Linux. Also what documentation would you recommend for a beginner? I'm guessing most people at the demoparty won't be familiar with Core War. Has anything changed since ICWS 94? [14:36] Not really.. [14:36] Whoops, I was not replying to you [14:36] Hehe [14:36] (to Fluffy, earlier conversation) [14:36] Thought you were a bot [14:37] Instant reply and all [14:37] No, certainly not [14:37] I think pMars is still one of the most used simulators [14:37] But there are some others, CoreWin (for Windows) is the one I use most of the time [14:38] The rule-set is still the same it was in '94 [14:38] Yeah, I checked CoreWin and nMars [14:42] Join: Core_old joined #corewars [14:43] Hm, ok [14:43] Thanks for the info [14:47] MSG: Client Quit [14:53] Join: Core_old joined #corewars [14:55] Ah, yes. What battle parameters do you think I should use? Hopefully there will be quite a few warriors [15:00] Most tournaments we run do a round robin fight [15:05] Aha [15:05] Well, I guess that's fair [15:08] But its also possible to do a multiwarrior battle [15:08] I think multiwarrior is harder and a bit more random, but also fun [15:14] MSG: Quit: dat [15:20] Join: Core_old_ joined #corewars [15:23] MSG: Ping timeout: 240 seconds [15:38] MSG: Ping timeout: 240 seconds [15:47] Join: John joined #corewars [15:47] Hi :-) [15:49] * John prods Fluffy [15:50] News from Fluffy in r.g.cw - "I just wanted to let you know that the next issue of the Core Warrior will be released on May 16, 2007 at 20:00 UTC."
