[17:51] having a fake "computers" ready-made? Optimal strategies would develop against those [17:51] have viruses fight corewar-style? nah [17:52] Well, yeah, that's one of the problems [17:52] What's the best way of abstracting virtual computers for infection? :P [17:52] If it's as hard as finding real security holes, nobody's going to bother [17:53] Memory domination like in CW would get kind of stale [17:54] well, i just got a thought, but its not something that would fit to the game [17:56] cant think anything without going too abstract [17:56] and coding "brute force password cracker" with some redicilous sillycode -- well, that doesnt take any thinking [17:58] and how would working against the virus work? releasing "patches"? counter-viruses? silly, i say [17:58] I suppose it depends on the concrete objective of the game [17:58] Taking over as many computers as possible, eliminating other virii, or both? [17:59] Well, the anti-virus thingies I had in mind would mostly be in charge of protecting the systems' integrity [17:59] Say, if you had a corewar core for each simulated computer, they'd be the warrior in charge of eliminating any hostiles [17:59] I don't know, it's quite possibly just a bad game concept :P [18:01] just too hard to make playable [18:03] I suppose so [18:03] then again, I'm not a professional game designer [18:03] although I wouldn't want it to be "shoot aliens to take over more computers!11" [18:06] * bvowk takes over computers without aliens [18:13] better get to bed soon [18:13] feeling so tired [18:14] been thinking all day about a variation of LZ, i hope my dreams wont get compressed..
