[05:26] MSG: Ping timeout: 252 seconds [05:26] Join: Caelian|w joined #corewars [06:39] someone might wonder why the warriors ive chosen are around score of 135 wilkies, while if i am creating a stronger benchmark, atleast 150 points per warrior should be expected [06:39] but the thing is, a) wilkies is unbalanced b) warriors in wilkies scores bad against themselves [06:40] rave3 is part of wilkies and gets 110 points. Timescape is part of wilkies and gets 146 points. Individual strenght of warriors is not that important, but the selection of tactics [06:41] and self-fights always go towards 50/50, 25/25/50 or 0/0/100 scores [06:44] maybe i should take wilfiz-scores of each.. [07:04] updated, yawn [07:09] hrm. [07:09] hi bvowk [07:09] hello. [07:10] fluffster: Pycorewars doesn't run on python-2.5 on FreeBSD/Sparc64 [07:43] how goes miz? [07:43] we *MUST* get together soon. [07:43] I'm making it mandatory.. [07:44] because I don't get out enough.. [07:44] (if you're alright with that) [07:44] i have a free day today [07:44] technically i should be reading for a maths test, though [07:45] fluffster: Pycorewars doesn't run on FreeBSD/Sparc64 [07:46] send me an email if you want shell to fix0r that. [07:46] I'm playing squash tonite [07:46] but tomorrow works.. [07:46] thats acceptable [07:59] cool. [08:00] any ideas? [08:00] none though [08:09] i threw a bone to few more socially-inclined people i know over irc and no idea from there yet.. [08:26] heh [09:33] bvowk, you still searching for a laptop-stand? [09:41] you got one? [09:42] I kind of gave up because I realized I only had one keyboard that I could use.. [09:42] and they got me a monitor at work finally. [09:43] just that tomorrow i could take you to verkkokauppa.com where there is highest chance of finding one [09:44] HWMNBM took me there already.. didn't really find one that would be serviceable :( [09:45] right [09:46] although I found a headset for skyping and a set of speakers so my place isn't quite so quiet.. [09:46] :) [09:46] I also found out you guys get boned on computer hardware prices.. [09:46] you've at least 30% higher than back home.. [09:46] of course, I shop in computer stores that are basicly a cash register in front of a group of cargo containers from taiwan. [09:47] so that might skew things a little.. I haven't seen any of those here.. [09:47] you are right about the hardware-prices in here [09:47] cheapest stuff is however sold straight from containers as you say - but if a slight twist [09:48] * bvowk is considering buying a 16 core machine with 32GB of ram :) [09:48] a certain importer did a deal with the Post so they can send stuff by ton, and they are selling stuff over net at cut-throat prices compared to elsewhere [09:48] I had briefly considered a 32 core box with 64GB of ram, but I don't think my wife would be ok with that.. [09:49] of course, by Finnish competition laws importers are not allowed to sell stuff straight, so they sell stuff through other companies so they get a seller's name into the paperworks [09:49] even if I said something like "But 10 years ago a box like that would have been at least a few million!" doesn't work. [09:50] interesting.. [09:51] for example: http://www.microsail.fi/microsai/htdocs/web-kauppainfo.html (click the big grey button) [09:51] then choose "komponentit" from left and just comparing prices [09:51] just -> start [09:53] not nearly as bad. [09:56] i believe Canada too had a centralized group that charged extra from cd's to "pay artists for the losses caused by illegal copying"? [09:59] yeah.. [09:59] Finnish costs for cd are pretty steep, and so many geeks order their cd's from europe [09:59] absurdly steep in fact. [10:00] they're at least a reasonable media storage idea back home ;) [10:00] Verkkokauppa.com also sells cd's by mail from Estonia to get past the local copyright-mafia [10:00] I said *GACK*! whn I saw the price here.. [10:01] Teosto-mafia is actually trying to reach the costs to harddrives and memory-cards too [10:02] which hasnt really gotten support of people, sicne that would drive up the prices of cellular phones [10:02] yeah, they tried that at home.. but they got shot down pretty hard. [10:02] same with ipods [10:02] they started but it got shot down.. [10:02] which is good, because they wanted to just about double the price of the ipod!
