[10:01] hrm. [10:02] hrm? [10:08] heya crem. [10:08] how goes? [10:18] * bvowk pokes crem in the eye to see if he's still blinking.. [10:20] hi b [10:21] heya mizter miz [10:21] so, you got a +25'C suntan? [10:22] no.. [10:22] I don't tan [10:22] my freckles are a little closer tho [10:23] a Canadian suntan? [10:23] heh [10:26] so have you been keeping busy mizz? [10:29] extremely unbusy [10:29] yeah? [10:30] anything exciting? [10:41] umm.. [10:41] no [10:44] I see [10:44] too bad :) [10:44] I myself have been very busy. [10:44] and my parents came to visit for a few days.. [11:33] sorry, wasn't answering as i was on my way to work. [11:52] it's alright. [11:52] we'll let it slide this time.. but try to be more accomodating in the future ;) [11:53] :) [12:20] so whatcha up to crem? [12:20] anything of interest? [12:21] * bvowk is currently playing with a new sas array, trying to get 1GB/s transfer rates.. [12:21] so far 850MB/s is the best I can get :( [12:21] Nothing new. Making the site for everyone to submit rock-paper-scissors playing program in redcode, but as topcoder maraphon round is upcoming, i've suspended it for some time. [12:24] closed or open source once submitted? [12:27] It's hard question. I think sources should be open, but maybe not right after the submission, but after 3 months for example. [12:29] And another question is how often the results table should be updated with new submissions. Right after the submission, or monthly. In latter case it will look like the separate competition each month. [12:32] monthly is a long time to wait for fun [12:35] alrite, but we need either not to open sources immediatly after the submission or to update statistics monthly, else it will be just "download recent sumbissions and write a counterplayer" competition. [12:36] but in redcode, unlike in C, it's not such a trivial task to write a couterplayer. :) [12:40] whats wrong with that? [12:41] with what exactly? [12:42] download and write a counter [12:44] It eliminates such important phase of competition as guessing what others have written. [12:45] which is kinda dead in CW, i/we have to admit [12:47] maybe. but I think a will run this for several languages (independently), including such ones like C++, and yet harder ones, like bf. [12:48] right [12:49] and we need to think how to set up data exchange in CW with the opponent. [12:51] well, if the time of run is not an issue, itll take only a moment to manipulate pmars/exhaust to use p-space 0 for exchange [12:58] alrite, in any case we will discuss this later, as during the following two weeks i'm going to be too busy to write anything.
