[01:21] yes [01:21] our house shook [01:21] and my housemate noticed too, so ... yes ;) [01:21] 01:09:56 < Metcalf> Earthquake problems anyone? [01:21] :) [01:22] wrong mouse button [01:22] (I'm always double click the stuff I'm reading ...) [01:28] Metcalf: still there? [01:32] MSG: Ping timeout: 245 seconds [01:32] hm [01:32] :) [01:33] Join: Metcalf joined #corewars [01:36] I got the blame. [01:37] Apparently r5.3 and epi-centre about 35 miles from here [01:41] where's here? [01:44] Boston [01:45] boston? [01:45] we're talking about england? [01:46] Yes [01:46] Boston, Lincolnshire [01:46] http://www.emsc-csem.org/Images/ALERTFUSION/2008/02/27/20080227-005646.jpg [01:49] that's 53 miles from here [01:51] so about 80 miles from here was the epi center according to bbc [02:00] n8 [02:00] MSG: Quit: humhum [02:11] * Metcalf waves [08:04] MSG: Read error: Operation timed out [08:04] MSG: Ping timeout: 245 seconds [09:31] MSG: Ping timeout: 245 seconds [09:32] Join: Metcalf joined #corewars [09:32] Join: yoR joined #corewars [10:00] Join: bvowk joined #corewars [10:47] MSG: Ping timeout: 245 seconds [10:50] Join: Metcalf joined #corewars [10:57] hrm. [12:36] * yoR shivers [12:59] usually recmath starts when they're ready to start it.. [12:59] I imagine it takes a while to get the server and scoring all setup and debugged. [13:00] Yeah, but I can't remember taking so long [13:01] Whenever I looked there was almost all the time a comp going [13:01] Did you vote for the next competition? [13:01] The primal sums and protein folding are topping the list [13:02] no, it's usually a long time between competitions.. [13:03] Hmm ok, I don't have much time anyway now, hopefully more in the summer [13:05] A friend of mine knows a lot about algorithms and competed in a lot of univerity programming competitions, he wants to team up with me for the next one :) [13:06] heh [13:08] He knows all the basic math stuff I need to look up... for example calculating with triangles and circles, I always forget the math involved... And he can do matrix calculations, which I never learned :( [13:09] but roy.. nobody can tell you what the matrix is, you have to see it for yourself ;) [13:09] * bvowk ducks. [13:10] Matlab does everything in matrix [13:10] that it does [13:12] He helped me do matrix transformations before, he used it to calculate intersecting lines [13:19] so whatcha busy with yor. [13:25] Nothing intresting really, at work I'm writing a book and in my spare time I'm going through my ebooks and fiddling with the qscanners in r.g.c. [13:26] writing a book? [13:27] Voyeurism and gratious sex? [13:28] Yeah, our company released a (dutch) book about JEE development three years ago, and I'm writing the second (2008) version [13:29] Its a small book, about 150 to 200 pages, but its put together from about 20 different sources and articles, so there are 20 different writing styles, everything needs to be corrected into one book [13:41] hrm. [13:41] sounds like.. er.. fun.. [13:42] Not really, but it gives me the opportunity to exchange ideas with the brightest and best people in the company [13:43] And its works well as a way to pursue my manager to send me to conventions [13:44] heh [14:13] MSG: Quit: dat [14:14] "Some proposed applications of engineered bioluminescence include: Christmas trees that do not need lights, reducing danger from electrical fires" [14:15] would you buy a radiation-green (yeah, i know..) christmas tree? [14:17] I wouldn't buy an xmas tree at all :) [14:17] maybe one that looked somewhat radioactive might be fun :) [15:53] Join: Metcalf joined #corewars [16:00] Hi :-) [16:02] aye [16:03] Hi Mizcu [16:15] MSG: Ping timeout: 245 seconds [16:15] Join: Metcalf joined #corewars [16:21] MSG: Ping timeout: 245 seconds [18:00] heh, CAD > USD [20:20] Join: Neogryzor joined #corewars [20:21] "Topic is 'newbies: check http://corewar.atspace.com/top10.html - webmasters: Neo's new URL is http://labarga.atspace.com'" [20:23] Thanks John.
