[13:54] if a warrior would be place in the mindistance, then a totally new random number is rolled out? or does it difference then from the normal random? [17:59] Nick Change: Altair|af changed nick to Altair [18:06] Calculates in the bombing part because it's shorter / quicker [18:07] thx [18:07] A warrior is never placed within the mindistance. The random number generation is fixed to only gererate numbers from mindistance to coresize-mindistance [18:08] k. one other question. I probably dont know it yet cause Im new to CW but what happend to the pizza hills? [18:09] somebody ate them? [18:09] pizza is in fact yummy [18:13] *dong* sry, unable to read >.> [18:16] As far as I remember it was running on an old university machine and once the IT decided to switch em of and moved without notify the pizza hill owner [18:16] mmm....thx [18:17] so only the hill survived but not the machine who handled the koth [18:17] the hills, I mean [18:22] The person who ran the Pizza hills is difficult to contact, but it's fairly easy to get hold of his friend :-) [18:23] phew, it's so long time ago [18:23] I remember I started there on the beginner hill [18:23] and was so happy after I got my first warrior in the lower ranks [18:24] next level was to get hold on the top of Beginner hill [18:24] and then got my first one on 94draft hill [18:24] yeyyyy [18:24] that was kinda fun [18:26] ^^ [18:26] I think it was Scanitator 2.0 [18:27] I think John entered the game not much after me [18:28] right, John? [18:28] 1997 first warrior on the hill :-) [18:29] mm........ [18:29] Before that I played on my own because I didn't have a modem [18:29] me too [18:30] I first read about corewar in a german scientific newsletter [18:30] they offered also that windows programm for cash [18:30] can't remember the name [18:30] WinCore? [18:31] it included some warriors, such as Cowboy, XTC or mulDNA [18:32] I didn'T fully understood the code, so I was hapyp to let them fight eachotehr and watch them [18:32] :-P [18:41] Wincore was one of the first MARS I used too! [18:42] is it still available somewhere? [18:46] http://corewar.co.uk/mars probably ;-) [18:48] Oh, I haven't uploaded it yet :-) [18:58] Join: fiveop joined #corewars [19:09] ;-) [19:15] Uploaded now. Also changed the link to the irc channel to point to freenode [19:40] yeah, I did also updated my site [19:44] I won't change the koth.org links until I know whats happening [20:05] weird to remember the days when people didn't necessarily have modems [20:05] ;) [20:06] when my nieces and nephews grow up with youtube on their cell phones [20:07] first MARS i used was some mac thing [20:07] can't remember the name [20:07] lol ran so slow on my mom's powerpc too [20:07] imps crawling across the core at full speed [20:08] and now you can click start and it'll paint the core in the time it takes to blink [20:27] The other mars I played with was Stefan Strack's Corewar Pro. [20:28] Then when I got pmars I was amazed, it was something like 50 times faster, or so it seemed :-) [20:48] Has anyone played with Corelife? It's a 2D version of corewar [20:50] no, never [21:06] MSG: Quit: humhum [21:24] * Fizmo waves [21:24] byebye [21:24] MSG: Quit: ChatZilla 0.9.84 [Firefox 3.0.10/2009042316] [22:12] MSG: Ping timeout: 240 seconds [23:35] cu [23:35] MSG:
